Born and raised in the coal-mining town of Bern high up where the clouds hug
the summits of mountains, his family line had lived there for centuries going
back to the foundation for the city when humans began their expansion of land. Although
his family line is recognized in the local area as kind and almost heroic,
Ruffus is only known for his ungodly lousy luck and his “IOUs” in
nearly every bar he visits.

As the middle child of three, he has always looked to prove himself better
from his eldest brother Juratan, a renowned Exorcist, and younger sister Yubia,
a powerful Spiritual Medium, now deceased.

In his quest for glory and bar money, he joined the Warrior’s Guild. There
he tries to gain fame and fortune by doing simple jobs, but his impulsive
nature, happy-go-lucky attitude, and slight pessimism hidden by sarcasm usually
set him back more than he knows or cares to notice.

Ruffus is a decent swordsman with the uncanny ability to talk his way out of
most problems, and if that tactic fails, he always has a throwing knife up his
sleeve. Not the strongest of fighters as he prefers to avoid confrontation, but
if needed, he is pretty versed in disabling his opponents before he lands the
final blow.

He had a romantic entanglement with Clover Hearth in his past, but after a
few disagreements, she decided to part ways, breaking his heart. Lessons
learned in the past made him more rigid than most men his age, but he still has
a weak spot for alcohol and the occasional thievery, but as he says, “A
thief is the title given to someone who’s caught in the act.”
